Janet McAllister, PhD

Janet McAllister, PhD, is a board-certified medical entomologist in the Arboviral Diseases Branch of the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases in Fort Collins, Colo. She received her doctorate in entomology from the University of Arkansas. After doing postdoctoral work at Louisiana State University and CDC in Atlanta, she worked for 5 years at the New Orleans Mosquito Termite and Rodent Control Board. At CDC, she specializes in mosquito surveillance and emergency response activities and conducts research on insecticide resistance and vector control. Dr. McAllister is an adjunct professor at Tulane University in New Orleans and Faculty Affiliate at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She is also a past president of the American Mosquito Control Association, West Central Mosquito and Vector Control Association, and Louisiana Mosquito Control Association.
