1. Enhancing surveillance: Washington is rapidly onboarding health facilities in High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas reporting to CDC’s syndromic surveillance system to improve the scope of emergency department data collection across the state and help provide early detection of opioid overdose outbreaks to enable rapid local responses.
2. Expanding managed care: Washington is integrating harm reduction services focused on reducing the harms of active drug use into Medicaid Managed Care Organizations to increase the number of services provided to plan members who use opioids.
