1. Coordinating care: Virginia developed guidelines and trained providers to assess and create warm hand-offs for patients at risk for opioid use disorder to ensure a smooth transition to treatment in high risk areas across the state.

2. Alerting health systems: Virginia integrated real-time alerts for opioid overdose events and naloxone use into its emergency department care coordination platform to rapidly share overdose information with clinicians and health systems.
