1. Building prescriber awareness: Iowa is developing dashboards for providers where they can view their opioid prescribing history data and compare themselves against peer providers to help them adhere to prescribing guidelines.
2. Understanding gaps: The Iowa Department of Health is working with the University of Iowa to identify current gaps in access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) across the state for people with opioid use disorder, to target efforts in areas with the greatest need. MAT is a treatment for opioid use disorder combining the use of medications with counseling and behavioral therapies.
