1. Connecting people to care: Illinois is linking people who use drugs—but are not ready for treatment—to care and support by establishing a network of treatment referral contacts in harm reduction organizations to reduce the harms of active drug use.
2. Expanding PDMP use: Illinois is working to increase the number of health systems connected to the state’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). Illinois saw a decrease in opioid prescriptions over a 3-month period.
