1. Identifying overdose risk factors: Washington, D.C. linked Emergency Medical Services and hospital data to health care billing/consumption, corrections, and city services data to better identify opioid overdose risk factors and new points of intervention.

2. Identifying illicit drugs: Washington, D.C. used innovative lab technology to quickly characterize the illicit drug supply and provide regular summaries on current drug trends to the D.C. Opioid Working Group.
