Figure 3.3. Incidence rates of acute hepatitis B decreased dramatically for both males and females from 1990 through 2009. Additionally, the gap in acute hepatitis B incidence rates between males and females narrowed over this period. In 2009, the rate for males was approximately 1.6 times higher than that for females (1.36 cases and 0.84 cases per 100, 000 population, respectively).
