What We Do

HIV

The CDC-Ethiopia office provides technical assistance in comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment, antiretroviral therapy (ART), TB and malaria control, laboratory systems, and strategic information collection, including health management information systems (HMIS), surveillance, informatics, and research. CDC also collaborates with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) in lab training and technical assistance to strengthen the nation’s health system through improving labs and increased human capacity.

TB

Low TB case detection and HIV-testing rates in Ethiopia are challenges to ensuring prompt diagnosis and treatment of TB, especially among people living with HIV (PLHIV). CDC provides technical support to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and partners to expand TB and TB/HIV control efforts. CDC’s focus in Ethiopia is to provide technical assistance to the FMoH and TB control program and conduct research to improve program performance.
