OutbreakNet Enhanced is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) program, started in August 2015, to provide support to state and local health departments to improve their capacity to detect, investigate, control, and respond to enteric disease outbreaks. OutbreakNet Enhanced is coordinated by the Capacity and Implementation Team within the Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases at CDC, and is funded through the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Disease (ELC) Cooperative Agreement.

OutbreakNet Enhanced sites work together and with CDC to share experiences and insights to improve enteric disease outbreak response. OutbreakNet Enhanced activities focus on improving detection and rapid interviewing of cases of Salmonella, Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), and Listeria as well as any cases of enteric disease with pathogens that demonstrate antimicrobial resistance.
