New CDC Map of Antibiotic Resistance Funds for States in 2020

Today, CDC released an updated Antibiotic Resistance (AR) Investment Map, which shows CDC’s fiscal year 2020 work by state and activity. The public web app includes printable fact sheets with information on global, state, and some city-specific activities.
Antibiotic resistance is when bacteria develop the ability to survive and grow despite being exposed to the antibiotics designed to kill or stop them. Antibiotic resistance can spread in healthcare settings, the community, the environment, and through the food we eat.
These CDC Antibiotic Resistance Solutions Initiative investments include support to public health partners to use whole genome sequencing to detect and stop antibiotic-resistant foodborne outbreaks. Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Shigella cause around 740,000 antibiotic-resistant infections each year in the United States. Learn more about CDC’s ongoing work to address antibiotic resistance in food safety.
