CDC and Food Safety: Global Food Safety Is Important for All Americans

We want convenience, choice, and diversity in the foods we eat, and imported food helps meet these demands. The United States imports about 15% of its food from more than 200 countries. To raise awareness about global food safety, the United Nations has established June 7, 2019 as the first annual World Food Safety Dayexternal icon.
