NORS Dashboard

National Outbreak Reporting System Dashboard

Nearly 20 years of foodborne disease outbreak data at your fingertips!*

NORS Dashboard is CDC’s interactive online program for searching and accessing data from the National Outbreak Reporting System (NORS), which includes the Foodborne Disease Outbreak Surveillance System.

The interactive maps, graphs, and charts in NORS Dashboard help you learn about foodborne disease outbreaks reported to CDC since 1998. You can see information on outbreaks caused by bacteria, viral, parasitic, and chemical agents by

  • Year
  • State
  • Location of food preparation
  • Food and ingredient
  • Confirmed or suspected cause
  • Numbers of illnesses
  • Hospitalizations
  • Deaths
What happened to FOOD Tool?

FOOD Tool has been expanded to include more data, but don’t worry — all of the information available through FOOD Tool can be found in NORS Dashboard.

For more information on how to interpret the data and limitations to keep in mind, look at the NORS Dashboard FAQ or contact the NORS staff at NORSDashboard@cdc.gov.

* NORS Dashboard also includes data on waterborne and enteric disease outbreaks spread through person-to-person contact, environmental contamination, animal contact, and other means.
