Information for Employers
How Employers Can Adopt the National Diabetes Prevention Program
The National DPP lifestyle change program follows a yearlong evidence-based curriculum and is led by a trained Lifestyle Coach. Participants learn new skills, set goals, and receive group support. Together, participants learn to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes through weight loss, healthy eating, coping with challenges, and increased physical activity.
Below is a checklist to guide you through making the decision to offer the National DPP lifestyle change program as a covered benefit at your organization.
First, you’ll discover how type 2 diabetes is affecting your organization. Then, you’ll learn how you can reduce the impact of diabetes by covering the National DPP lifestyle change program as a health or wellness benefit. Next, you’ll decide whether the program is right for your organization. Finally, you’ll take the first steps to adopting and implementing the program.
