Important Updates of the 2016 American Diabetes Association’s Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes: Secrets of Success for the Health Care Team and Community Health Workers
This webinar reviews the 2016 American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes guidelines from the perspective of diabetes self-management education. The new standards are explained by a certified diabetes educator and pharmacist who discusses the importance of education for diabetes self-management, on medication algorithms, and on setting targets. She also explains the guidelines around the importance of using a patient-centered approach, among other substantive changes.
Health care costs continue to soar, while health and well-being are declining. The speakers help participants recognize the social, economic, and physical factors that contribute to health and learn how employers and communities can work together to control health care spending and improve health using a population health management approach.
