Background

  • On Friday, February 9, 2018, Congress approved and the President signed into law the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, which appropriated $200 million in hurricane funding to CDC.
  • CDC is using the Cooperative Agreement for Emergency Response: Public Health Crisis Response (Crisis NOFO) – CDC-RFA-TP18-1802 mechanism to award a portion of the $200 million the agency received for response, recovery, preparation, mitigation, and other expenses directly related to the consequences of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
  • Eligible Applicants:  The 64 jurisdictions on the Public Health Crisis Response cooperative agreement approved but unfunded list (ABU0 were eligible to apply for hurricane supplemental funding. Nine jurisdictions on the ABU list applied and were approved for funding.
  • Approval/Funding Date: Nine jurisdictions applied and were approved for funding. On July 1, 2018, CDC awarded approximately $64.5 million to the nine jurisdictions.
  • Funding Availability: Funding is available through September 30, 2020.
