Associate Director of Policy
Kathy Gallagher has been with CDC for 20 years, and her experience across the agency spans a wide range of policy and leadership roles. Before joining the Center for Preparedness and Response, she served as the Deputy Director for the Appropriation Legislation and Formulation Office in CDC’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, where she led budget formulation activities, communications with Appropriation Committee staff, and appropriations-related partnerships. Prior to that, she served in the Ebola response as the Ebola Policy Unit Lead in the Emergency Operations Center, where she provided leadership and staffing for Congressional briefings and responded to hundreds of urgent and complex Congressional requests. Over eight years in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Kathy supported and led strategic planning and priority setting, and strategic national and international partnership development. Following the 9/11 and anthrax attacks, she served as the Policy Lead for the Office of Internal Security, and received the Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service for her work.
