Associate Director of Management Resources
Arnetra Herbert is the Management Officer and the Associate Director for the Management Resources Office (MRO) in the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response. Arnetra was previously with OPHPR’s Division of Emergency Operations (DEO) where she had served as the Associate Director for the Policy, Planning, Evaluation, and Communication Team since 2012 . In that role Arnetra developed and maintained partnerships and oversees congressional relations, strategic planning, legislative analysis, and program development, including performance measurement and policy analysis.
Ms. Herbert began her career in public health as a research chemist at the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) and she joined CDC in 2000. Arnetra has worked in various offices across CDC and ATSDR. In 2005, she served as a Health Scientist in the Office of the Director, National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH)/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR). In 2007, Ms. Herbert left NCEH/ATSDR to become the Special Assistant to the Director of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). In 2011, she joined the Division of Global Disease Detection and Emergency Response’s Office of Policy, Evaluation, and Communication as the Issues Management contact as well as liaison for the Global Health Security Branch.
Ms. Herbert earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Nutritional Science from Howard University, Washington, D.C.
