Dr. Pamela Cox, PhD

Dr. Pamela Cox, PhD is currently the Deputy Director in the Office on Smoking and Health (OSH), where she is responsible for providing executive level management, programmatic, operational leadership and guidance for OSH’s Office of the Director. She is responsible for budget development and execution, personnel, performance management, staff development and recognition, formal and informal staff complaints, and organizational improvement initiatives based on EVS results.

Prior to joining OSH, Dr. Cox served as the Director of the Division of the Executive Secretariat within CDC’s Office of the Chief of Staff. In this role, she coordinated official CDC correspondence with members of Congress, foreign governments, state and local governments, national and international organizations, and key partners.

Dr. Cox joined CDC in 2001 and has also worked in the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) and the Office of the Associate Director of Policy (OADP). She received her PhD in Public Health from the University of Georgia, her Masters of Arts in Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and her Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Tennessee.
