Dr. Perez is a Clinical Specialist in Infectious Diseases at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, an Assistant Professor of Health Sciences at the Institute of Academic Medicine and Assistant Clinical Member at Houston Methodist Research Institute who works daily in close collaboration with laboratory medical directors to help guide the selection and implementation of CLIA tests in an effort to improve clinical care outcomes at the bedside. In her current position, she is responsible for developing, coordinating, and directing antimicrobial stewardship efforts for Houston Methodist Hospital System and has been published numerous times in peer-reviewed journals on the use of rapid diagnostics and antibiotic stewardship. She serves as an advisor and preceptor for the pharmacy practice and infectious diseases residency programs. In 2013, Dr. Perez was the recipient of the Award for Innovation in Pharmacy Practice sponsored by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Foundation.
