Dr. Palavecino is a board-certified clinical pathologist with sub-specialty training in clinical microbiology and blood banking. With more than 20 years of experience in clinical laboratory settings, she has continuously strived to integrate the latest microbiological and molecular testing methods with clinical practice, with the goal of providing cost effective and high quality patient care. Dr. Palavecino actively participates in several regional and national committees related to laboratory diagnosis including the North Carolina Laboratory Response Forum, the Carolinas Antimicrobial Stewardship Efforts, AACC and CLSI, and, as a member of the Point-of-Care Committee at Wake Forest Health, oversees laboratories that perform point-of-care testing within the institution. She is also currently on the editorial board of Clinical Laboratory News, a publication dedicated to providing broad coverage in all areas of laboratory medicine.
