CDC Arthritis Research

Public health programs need to be based on sound public health science. CDC conducts or supports research to strengthen the public health science base and to guide public health practice. CDC science projects better define risk factors for the development and progression of arthritis, improve surveillance methods to better define the impact of arthritis, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to increase self-management (such as participation in self-management education or physical activity programs) among persons with arthritis.
