Summary This paper examines the use of Micro RNA (miRNA) extracted from extracellular vesicles (EVs) purified via L1CAM enrichment as biomarkers for detecting ALS. Comparisons between L1CAM immunocapture and control groups show that the generation of a unique miRNA fingerprint diagnostic of ALS.

Further analyses of the predictive value of these miRNAs compared to ALS-like diseases is a necessary next step.
