Impact of the National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Registry: Analysis of Registry-funded Research

| Summary | This paper describes the analysis undertaken by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) to examine the impact of National ALS Registry funded ALS research activities. Since 2012, the National ALS Registry has funded 14 projects through extramural research grants. On average these funded projects produced 1-2 publications that were cited 114 times by other researchers. Analysis of the program found that Registry-funded research fills an essential gap in the overall ALS scientific community as it is difficult to prevent and treat a disease without a deeper understanding of its causes. |
