Indiana WISEWOMAN Program
Clinical Services: Indiana WISEWOMAN works with health care providers to provide screenings that include blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol as well as assessing height, weight, medical history, quality of life indicators, tobacco use, diet/nutrition and physical activity. Indiana WISEWOMAN provides screening, medical support, and risk reduction counseling initially through contracting with two existing Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IN-BCCP) regional offices: United Health Services of St. Joseph County in the northeastern region and Open Door Health Services in the eastern region of Indiana. The Indiana WISEWOMAN program has four existing IN-BCCP providers for the northeastern region of Indiana and one IN-BCCP provider in the eastern region of Indiana.
Lifestyle Programs and Other Healthy Behavior Support Options: Indiana WISEWOMAN works with lifestyle intervention counselors trained in motivational interviewing to provide health coaching. The lifestyle intervention counselors refer women to community-based lifestyle programs including the National Diabetes Prevention Program and Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), as appropriate.
