CDC at Work
CDC's mission is "to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability." That mission covers a lot of ground and many different areas of public health. Some of our activities may be more familiar, such as our disease investigations, while other activities may be less well known, such as our day to day technical assistance to state and local public health departments. Addressing everything from AIDS to yellow fever, CDC's scientists, nurses, statisticians, nutritionists, doctors, industrial hygienists, laboratorians, veterinarians, information technology specialists, policy analysts, and others are working together for healthy people in every stage of life. To help provide a better idea of what CDC's staff do every day to ensure healthy people in a healthy world, we have prepared these short accounts of CDC at Work. Each one is a snapshot of a specific CDC activity and how CDC is making an impact on health at the national, community and/or individual level.
