Health care surveys provide information about the prevalence and incidence of disease, the occurrence of healthy and unhealthy behavior, exposures to potential risk factors, and access and utilization of health care services.


BRFSS
— The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a continuous, random, telephone survey of a state population-based sample of civilian noninstitutionalized adults aged 18 years and older. The BRFSS is administered and supported by CDC's Behavioral Surveillance Branch. BRFSS aims to measure behavioral risk factors in the adult population.


NHANES
— National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is an ongoing series of cross-sectional national surveys of the noninstitutionalized US civilian population. The NHANES is conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The NHANES aims to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The NHANES is a unique survey that combines interviews and physical examinations.


NHIS
— the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Conducted continuously since 1957, the NHIS is a health survey of the civilian, noninstitutionalized, household population of the United States. The survey provides information on the health of the United States population, including information on the prevalence and incidence of disease, the extent of disability, and the use of health care services.
