Average Work Loss Costs per Suicide for Persons Aged 10 Years and Older, by Age and Sex, United States, 2005

In 2005, the average work loss costs per suicide among males and females showed a similar pattern, with costs peaking in the 20-24 age group ($1,215,784 for females; $1,392,113 for males) and then declining for subsequent age groups. Females had lower work loss costs than males until age 60-64 years, when the work loss cost for males ($304,608) fell below females ($335,667).
