Average Medical Costs per Homicide, by Age and Sex, United States, 2005

In 2005, on average, the medical cost per homicide was higher among males ($6,720) than females ($4,520). This difference was consistent across all age groups, except for those 85 years and older. The average medical cost of homicide for males was highest among young children ages 0-4 years ($14,679), and older adults aged 80-84 years ($15,124). The average medical cost for females was highest among those ages 0-4 years ($12,981).
