Returns and Wastage Interfaces
Alaska and Florida, our pilots for the new ExIS Returns and Wastage interfaces in VTrckS, completed their file upload testing and training in March in preparation for going live with this functionality on April 1. We are very grateful to the staff in Alaska and Florida for their valuable feedback, which we have used to update and clarify our tools and materials. The updated ExIS interface specifications document (Revision D02) [1.2 MB, 66 pages] is now available in the VTrckS Training Library.
The new Returns and Wastage interfaces were made available to all awardees in the Training environment on March 24. Non-pilot awardees can upload files in the Production environment starting on May 1, but only if they first complete file upload testing. The testing process will be the same as it was for previous upload interfaces:
Key Dates for Returns and Wastage Interfaces
April 1: Go Live for Pilot Awardees
May 1: Go Live for Non-Pilots (note: awardees may implement at any time after this date as long as they have successfully completed file upload testing)
May 7: Training for Non-Pilots (to be offered quarterly)
- Plan to send three or more iterations of files created by your ExIS to the VTrckSExIS@cdc.gov e-mail box.
- Files should include the test cases your ExIS will support. The VTrckS ExIS specifications document has test cases and sample files that will help you as you generate test files.
- The CDC team will test your files and send you feedback. When you receive notice of completion of file upload testing, you can conduct additional testing in the Training environment.
- CDC will then enable the new interfaces in the Production environment for awardees that successfully completed testing.
Finally, before using the Returns and Wastage interfaces, please plan to participate in a targeted training session. A schedule of quarterly training dates for 2014 will be posted in the VTrckS Training Library.
In January, CDC conducted an ExIS Deployment Assessment to gather more information about awardees’ plans for implementing available ExIS interfaces. A total of 52 awardees completed the assessment—thank you so much! Your responses give us a better understanding of the CDC resources that will be required to support you.
