April 13, 2005: Global Tobacco Epidemic
Matthew Myers, President, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, emphasized the importance of the day's meeting and how important collaboration among and within countries is for effective tobacco control efforts. He challenged the Committee, however, to encourage the United States' ratification of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). Mr. Myers believes that without ratification, the United States risks losing its leadership role in tobacco control efforts internationally.
