Transmission/Contributing Factors

When a susceptible person inhales droplet nuclei containing the tubercle bacilli, TB transmission may occur. The probability that TB will be transmitted depends on the
  • Infectiousness of the person with TB disease
  • Environment in which exposure occurred
  • Duration of exposure
  • Virulence of the organism
