2012 Funding (Year 3)

  • Amount of funding: $250,000
  • Description of Project
    Awardee will:
    • Continue cross-jurisdictional collaboration with State of Alaska, Division of Public Health, tribal entities, and other stakeholders
    • Lead and facilitate completion of the Healthy Alaskans 2020 initiative
    • Perform an organizational self-assessment
    • Increase tobacco cessation referrals and services to reduce tobacco use among Alaska Native people
    • Expand dissemination of Alaska Native health status information

2011 Funding (Year 2)

  • Amount of funding: $250,000
  • Description of Project
    Awardee will:
    • Develop an internal quality/performance improvement environment
    • Form a multi-sector, cross-jurisdictional partnership coalition
    • Disseminate and facilitate the use of public health data among regional tribal health organizations and communities
    • Promote implementation of evidence-based strategies, polices, and laws
    • Complete assessments using the National Public Health Performance Standards Program assessment tool and the Public Heath Accreditation Board self-assessment
    • Solicit subject matter experts in key areas to ensure the most recent information for public health practice is embodied in the assessment, analysis, and strategic planning process

2010 Funding (Year 1)

Component I

  • Amount of funding: $100,000
  • Description of Project:
    Awardee will:
    • Focus on building, institutionalizing, and implementing performance management capacity within health departments
    • Support full-time "Performance Improvement Manager" who will participate in a national network of performance improvement professionals supported by CDC
