  Awardee will:
  • Monitor and evaluate the agency performance management system
  • Support six local health departments in preparation for multi-jurisdictional public health accreditation
  • Assist additional local health departments with strategic planning technical assistance
  • Continue to develop the quality improvement initiatives and training for agency staff and build sustainability
  • Apply for public health accreditation

2011 Funding (Year 2)

• Amount of funding: $400,000
• Description of Project
  Awardee will:
  • Use a multi-jurisdictional approach to achieve accreditation for nine health departments
  • Complete a public health accreditation gap analysis
  • Perform an assessment of services delivered among the nine local health departments
  • Provide quality improvement training and strategic planning process education
  • Train staff in quality improvement and implementation of agency strategic plan
  • Develop a performance management system based on the strategic plan

2010 Funding (Year 1)

  • Focus on building, institutionalizing, and implementing performance management capacity within health departments
  • Support full-time "Performance Improvement Manager" who will participate in a national network of performance improvement professionals supported by CDC
