2012 Funding (Year 3)
- Amount of funding: $607,600
- Description of Project
Awardee will:- Increase public health accreditation readiness through an internal operational readiness assessment, community health assessments, and staff training
- Promote continuous quality improvement throughout the agency by providing training on quality and process improvement (QI & PI) and providing ongoing support encouraging the implementation of newly acquired QI & PI knowledge and skills
- Develop a comprehensive new employee onboarding and training system to increase employee and program effectiveness
- Develop an agency-wide performance management system to provide timely and accurate information on key effectiveness measures
- Modernize the Hawaii vital statistics system using cost-saving methods that reduce service delivery times
2011 Funding (Year 2)

- Description of Project
Awardee will:- Support ongoing activities from year one
- Provide training and support for best practices in management science and public health
- Create a roadmap for public health accreditation
- Support the training and implementation activities of an interdepartmental team of staff focused on administrative simplification projects to improve efficiency of critical public health business processes
- Train leadership and staff of sister executive agencies on public health concepts to support a Health in All Policies initiative and extend the reach of public health into other areas such as transportation, agriculture, and human services
- Perform health impact assessments with partners to understand how non-public health policies can improve population health outcomes
2010 Funding (Year 1)
- Amount of funding: $1,000,000
- Description of Project:
Awardee will enhance public health improvement efforts beyond Component I through two or more categories including: performance management, policy and workforce development, public health system development/redevelopment and best practice implementation.
