• Description of Project
  Awardee will:
  • Prepare to apply for national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board
  • Plan and implement performance improvement projects to improve turnaround time for sexually transmitted disease testing and results and to adopt more efficacious tuberculosis testing methods across the community
  • Increase training opportunities for the health department workforce in quality improvement techniques and public health best practices
  • Develop comprehensive performance management electronic system, performance measures, and internal processes

2011 Funding (Year 2)

• Amount of funding: $250,000
• Description of Project
  Awardee will:
  • Release a community health improvement plan
  • Complete and implement a health department strategic plan
  • Train the health department workforce in quality improvement and performance management techniques, as well as public health service best practices
  • Initiate development of a comprehensive performance management system and public health information dashboard

2010 Funding (Year 1)

  • Focus on building, institutionalizing, and implementing performance management capacity within health departments
  • Support full-time "Performance Improvement Manager" who will participate in a national network of performance improvement professionals supported by CDC
