Ambassador Testimonials

"I would highly recommend CDC's Science Ambassador Workshop because it takes a different stand for education. We as teachers are in isolation, but this brings us to the forefront of what education should be. Now that there is a talk about STEM, there is a human component in science and that is where public health comes in. We have to weave that fabric of educators coming in touch with scientists in real time so that we can take that into the classroom."

–Sumi Jayaraman, Atlanta, GA
2014 CDC Science Ambassador

"I would recommend CDC Science Ambassador. Sometimes you go to a workshop and it seems like someone is talking down to you, but sometimes it feels like a growing together of the people at the workshop and that's what this one felt like. There was some instruction and then afterwards you were working with the experts, you were talking to them, and it was a collaborative process. I think any teacher would benefit from coming to take their own personal level and make it a little higher."

–Kelly Porter, Huntington Beach, CA

"CDC's Science Ambassador Workshop gives a different point of view – you're thinking outside of the box. At my school, we are completely STEM and everything at the workshop can be applied. It is such a great program, I think everyone should do it."

–Lisa Earehart, Humble, TX
CDC Science Ambassador

"CDC's Science Ambassador Workshop has a variety of reaches, I happen to be teaching epidemiology, but it can fit into a variety of courses. I recommend it for statistics. There is so much real live information that teachers and students can work with. Students can make case studies and then do the statistics. I highly recommend it for any teacher – there are lots of applications no matter what science field you are in."

–Johnna Doyle, Bolton, MA
