Project Design

One-year pilot project to determine acceptability and utilization

Sodium hypochlorite produced by large chemicals company, and bottled and distributed by Dhaka-based entrepreneurial firm

Sodium hypochlorite and safe water storage vessels made available to community through community-based social entrepreneurs (CBSE). The CBSEs are neighborhood women who have been trained to communicate water-handling and hygiene-related messages and to sell SWS products to their neighbors.

Emergency distribution to affected areas during 2004 flooding.
