Reproductive Health Epidemiology Assistance

Workshops on reproductive health epidemiology are conducted by CDC's Division of Reproductive Health (DRH) experts and tailored to the needs and interests of the host country. DRH staff also has provided technical assistance in the investigation of an array of reproductive health issues. Learn more and access information and resources for workshops and technical assistance.

Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP)

FETP and FELTP are applied epidemiology programs offered by CDC to help foreign countries develop, set up, and implement dynamic public health strategies to improve and strengthen their public health system and infrastructure. DRH is developing training resources and technical support for FETP and FELTP in maternal and child health in several countries, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Learn more about CDC’s FETP and FELTP programs.

Reproductive Health Survey Capacity Building and Sustainability in Latin America

DRH has conducted Survey Sustainability Assessments to measure in-country capacity for survey implementation. Based on the findings, DRH prepared Survey Continuity Plans to help countries build the institutional capacity to independently collect and analyze maternal and health data to monitor and improve their health services.

As a part of this capacity-building work, a tool kit is being developed to assist countries in implementing Reproductive Health Surveys. It provides guidance on sampling, questionnaire design, and data management. It also includes sample manuals for interviewers and trainers, as well as other useful documents. This Spanish language toolkit will be available in early 2012.

CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health has assisted many nations with training and capacity building in monitoring, evaluation, epidemiology, surveillance and surveys, and continues to provide global technical assistance.
