Second Annual World Rabies Day Webinar

The Global Alliance for Rabies Control, in cooperation with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is pleased to announce the second annual World Rabies Day Webinar to be held September 21-22, 2011. This Webinar brings together noted leaders in rabies research, One-Health advocates, professionals, students and World Rabies Day event planners to discuss the important public health issue of rabies while providing a forum for dialogue within and across disciplines.

Registration

There is no cost to attend the live webinars but attendance is limited to the first 1000 registrants/logins. Space is limited register early.

  • Day 1 (Sep 21, 2011) Focus: Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa.
  • Day 2 (Sep 22, 2011) Focus: North America and South America.

Call for Abstracts Now Open!

Presentation length is 25 minutes (20 min lecture, 5 min Q&A). All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and notification to authors is expected to occur in late July 2011. Submit abstracts by June 17.

Abstracts

You can now submit abstracts for the 2011 Webinar. The planning committee invites abstracts for presentations focusing on the areas of: canine rabies elimination; human rabies surveillance, prevention and intervention; wildlife rabies control; information and education campaigns; building sustainable programs; and other topic areas that relate to the multi-disciplinary nature of this Webinar. A wide diversity of submissions is encouraged. Abstracts not exceeding 250 words will be accepted for review.

Abstract Reviewers Needed!

The Webinar planning committee is seeking qualified volunteers to serve as abstract reviewers. Abstracts will be distributed and reviewed via email. Reviewers should be available to review abstracts during the time period of June 24, 2011 through July 15, 2011. Each reviewer may be assigned 5-10 abstracts for review. If you are interested in reviewing abstracts and can commit to completing reviews within this timeframe, please complete the following questionnaire which will ask you to identify your areas of expertise/interest. Deadline to provide this information is Friday, June 17, 2011 .

Recommended: microphone or USB headset and internet connection with >128kbs upload speed for audio transmission to ask questions of presenters. (Questions can be submitted by chat otherwise)
