Yvonne Green, Director of Office of Women’s Health
February 3, 2011
It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Thomas R. Frieden has officially re-appointed Yvonne Green, RN, CNM, MSN, as the director of CDC’s Office of Women’s Health (OWH). The Affordable Care Act required that the position be appointed by the CDC Director, and I am pleased that Ms. Green will continue her excellent work promoting the health and safety of women through every stage of life. Yvonne has held the position of director of OWH since October 1999. She holds the rank of Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service.
Ms. Green is a registered nurse and certified nurse midwife. She has worked in women’s health for the majority of her career, in public and private hospitals, medical centers, and public health departments. Ms. Green joined CDC in 1984. She graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and with a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Yale University.
Please join me in congratulating Yvonne. We look forward to her continued leadership of OWH as part of the Office of the Associate Director for Program.
Sincerely,
Janet L. Collins, Ph.D.
