Prevention and Public Health Fund (PPHF) Strategy and Implementation Office
The Affordable Care Act of 2010 (Affordable Care Act or ACA) is a historic opportunity to advance health reform and public health. The Affordable Care Act’s unprecedented investment in preventive care and public health represents an important ideological shift – from a reactive model focused on treatment to a proactive prevention model with the goal of eliminating health disparities and ensuring quality of life for all Americans.
The PPHF Strategy and Implementation Office provides the necessary programmatic and financial oversight and coordination for Affordable Care Act (ACA) activities within the CDC.
The responsibilities of the office include:
- Participating in framing CDC PPHF program priorities and strategy recommendations.
- Coordinating development of proposals and collaborating with CDC’s Financial Management Office (FMO) on budget formulation, budget execution, spend plan development and program support needs.
- Collaborating with program and business service offices to monitor funds, establish internal controls and report on budget management.
- Responding to ACA reporting requirements and data calls, including working with FMO, CDC’s Procurement and Grants Office (PGO) and CDC Washington on requests from the Office of the Inspector General and the Government Accounting Office, as well as cross-clearance of Reports to Congress.
- Working with programs to monitor and report on ACA-funded program performance.
- Promoting awareness of activities and outcomes within CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and with our partners and the press.
