Director Letter

Dr Monroe

Dear Residency Program Faculty,

CDC’s exciting, new primary care initiative is underway to promote stronger linkages between public health and clinical medicine through partnerships with residency programs and other primary care educators. This initiative coincides with the Institute of Medicine’s recently released report exploring the integration of primary care and public health to improve population health.

The goals of the initiative are to

  • Increase the reach and involvement of physicians in national public health efforts
  • Connect and foster relationships between physicians and local and state public health professionals

CDC is collaborating with residency program educators to develop public health-focused teaching materials for delivery to residents. CDC hosts monthly teleconferences with national experts to share educational modules.

CDC will send invitations to join these teleconferences. Please help us spread the word by forwarding these invitations to your colleagues.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, please feel free to send them to ostltsfeedback@cdc.gov.

We look forward to further exploring these exciting linkages and collaborating with you!

Sincerely,

Judith A. Monroe, MD
