This workshop combines lecture and hands-on activities to educate participants about health literacy and its impact on health. Participants gain tools, principles, and strategies to effectively communicate health information. Participants also learn how to select effective teaching tools and make written educational materials easy to read.
Audience
The workshop is designed for employees of community-based, nonprofit, and faith-based organizations, and staff in health care settings and at cooperative extension agencies. Attendees may include health care providers and allied health professionals, nurses, health educators, outreach and social workers, behavioral scientists, wellness specialists, students, and other people who have a basic familiarity with health literacy.
