Proceedings on Health Risk Assessment Guidance Development

Partnership for Prevention, a CDC grantee, and its subcontractor Thomson Reuters developed this guidance document to provide information regarding the implementation of the Affordable Care Act Section 4103(b) related to health risk assessments. This document was developed from interviews with subject matter experts, input received in response to a Federal Register Notice (PDF, 3 MB), insights provided by attendees at the CDC Health Risk Assessment Public Forum, February 1–2, 2011, and the authors’ knowledge of the literature regarding this topic.

The guidance addresses the use of HRAs and follow-up counseling, coaching and behavior change interventions in clinical settings aimed at improving the health and well-being of Medicare beneficiaries.
