Healthcare Preparedness Activity
Mission
To support public health, healthcare, and emergency management working together to safely deliver the right care at the right time and in the right place.
Vision
Healthcare systems effectively preparing for and responding to emergencies.
Background
In the event of a natural disaster or public health emergency medical personnel and communities must know how to quickly respond in an effort to save lives and minimize suffering. Proper planning is at the core of any effective response. The Healthcare Preparedness Activity (HPA) within the Division of Strategic National Stockpile works to improve the healthcare delivery system’s ability to respond to potential natural disasters and public health threats, such as pandemic influenza. HPA provides tools and other resources intended to enhance preparedness from multiple sectors that impact healthcare and public health.
