Current PHIN CoPs

Communications and Alerting

The CACoP supports all aspects of alerting, voice and applicable data communications technologies (e.g. PHIN MS) required to meet the state and CDC missions in support of PHIN. Specific activities include:

  • Support state and the CDC efforts to deliver effective alerting solutions to all levels of government (federal, state, and local; may also include tribal nations).
  • Support of the larger PHIN role based directory initiative and standards within PCA information systems.
  • Share member expertise including assisting members
    • Business process analysis & Strategic Planning
    • Requirements development
    • Task flow
    • Evaluation, selection and implementation of communication solutions
  • Assist members in understanding and achieving PHIN certification communication goals.
  • Monitor and support diverse communication technologies used by participating CoP members. Provide knowledge resources to support participating CoP members.
  • Participate directly in developing and implementing communications standards such as Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) and Emergency Data Exchange Language (EDXL).
