How To... Review Data Quality - Periodic Report
PNSS Case Study
Summary Section
The Summary is the second section of the PNSS Periodic Summary of
Record Volume and Data Quality Report that lists the types of data quality
problems identified in the report and the number of fields with each type
of data quality problem for the file submission.
Sample Summary Section:
Record Volume Update/Data Quality
Sample Summary Section:
Data Quality
 |
BIV is a data value beyond what is considered
to be in a biologically plausible range. For this current file
submission, one field contained BIVs on more than 3% of records. |
 |
Cross-check errors are fields with coding
inconsistencies between the fields. Only one field has Cross-check
errors on more than 5% of records for this current file submission. |
 |
Unusual data distributions are fields that have
data following a distribution pattern that is not typical based on
observations of national PedNSS and PNSS data. There were no fields
with No
Acceptable Data Other Than Zeros. One field had Other
Unusual Data Distributions. |
 |
Fields with Low or High Standard Deviations
identify data with more or less variation than is expected in a
population. One field was identified with a
low or high standard deviation compared to a reference population. |
