摘要

良好的教育預示著良好的健康,而且健康和教育成績兩者的不均衡性緊密關聯。儘管有這些關聯性而且美國所有學生中有近三分之一,黑人、拉丁裔和美洲印第安人學生中有一半不能按時高中畢業,公共衛生專業人士卻很少將降低輟學學生的數目作為首要任務。本文中我們概括了對高中畢業的健康益處之瞭解,並討論了從高中畢業促進良好健康的途徑。我們分析了減少輟學率的策略,重點在於透過改善學生健康從而提高學校畢業率的干預措施。最後,我們向健康專業人士建議了可採取的措施,以作為公共衛生問題改變輟學率,並改善美國的學校畢業率。
