CDC Seed Projects
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) collaborative seed award program provides funding to enhance research in an area of public health need/utility, increase the quality and impact of research outputs, and strengthen collaborative interactions between CDC and local university scientists. CDC and its partner universities establish strategic themes and priorities for which collaborative research projects are solicited. Calls for projects are made annually based on fund availability. Current seed program partners include the following universities: Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and the University of Georgia (UGA).
- The CDC and Georgia Tech seed award program provides funding that supports pilot research in the form of proof of concept and feasibility projects that will advance the state of the science to facilitate scientific innovation (e.g. patents and publications), new external funding, and novel collaborative relationships. Research priorities include: bioengineering, bioscience, and informatics.
- The CDC and Georgia State University seed award program supports social and behavioral science research within the field of public health. Proposed projects must address a public health issue in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention, injury or disability prevention, or health protection from infectious, environmental or terrorist health threats.
- The CDC and UGA seed award program provides pilot public health research project funding to enhance collaborative scientific innovation and technology development at the interface of human, veterinary, and ecological health, increase the number and quality of research outputs and strengthen collaborative interactions between CDC and UGA scientists.
