| Within the Office of the Chief of Public
Health Practice, the Office of Standards and Emerging
Issues in Practice seeks
to improve the practice of public health by supporting and
advocating for standards, accountability systems, and health
improvement planning efforts. OSEIP also provides leadership
in identifying and stimulating collaborative efforts within
CDC to address emerging issues in practice. |
Programs of the Office of Standards and Emerging Issues
in Practice:
- National
Public Health Performance Standards Program (NPHPSP).
A collaborative effort to strengthen state and local
public health practice through the establishment and
application of public health system standards. In addition
to assisting in the implementation of the standards,
CDC
and its partners also seek to support performance improvement
efforts, which assure that assessment results lead to
action.
- Mobilizing
for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) A community-wide
strategic planning tool for improving community health, developed jointly by CDC and the National
Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). Click
here for more information on a free MAPP
Pre-Conference Training at the American Public Health
Association Annual Meeting.
- State and Local Agency Accreditation
OCPHP is working with a cross-section of national
stakeholders toward the implementation of a national
voluntary accreditation system for state and local public
health agencies. CDC leadership has formally expressed its
support for the establishment of an accreditation system.
- Public Health Practice Council (PHPC)
A Public Health Practice Council has been created to address issues,
problems, and opportunities which affect the practice of public health
at CDC and throughout the public health community. PHPC fosters an environment
for the promotion of public health practice throughout CDC - with the ultimate
goal of improving public health. In coordination with the Chief of Public
Health Practice, the Office of Standards and Emerging Issues in Practice
staffs and supports the PHPC.
- Emerging Issues in Practice OSEIP
will develop the capabilities to monitor and anticipate
local and State public
health practice trends and issues in order to advocate
and promote cross-cutting responses by CDC.
